Housing Navigator 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars Pompano Beach, FL 33064 Employees of Women In Distress are considered essential and may be required to be available during emergencies and critical incidents.

Work schedule:

9:00am-6:00pm, Monday to Friday. Flexible schedule is required as agency and participant needs change. Consideration may be given to four 10 hour shifts.

Job Overview :

The Housing Navigator plays a crucial role in assisting individuals and families in securing stable housing. The Housing Navigator will work closely with community resources, landlords, and service providers to ensure clients have access to safe and affordable housing options. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in their community through dedicated support for those facing housing challenges.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in human services field with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in social services or related experience or high school diploma with two or more years’ experience in real estate, property management, and/ or leasing. Bilingual especially in Spanish and/or Creole is preferred. Knowledge of Fair Housing laws . Valid Florida Driver’s License. Safe Driving Record. Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide trauma-informed direct services to survivors of domestic violence including individual counseling, crisis intervention, housing navigation, and mobile advocacy as needed. Utilize the empowerment model and maintain a non-judgmental attitude towards participant’s decisions. Model non-violent conflict resolution and take appropriate steps to deal with emergency situations with the goal of maintaining the safety and well-being of the participants. • Provide comprehensive survivor centered housing navigation and service/case management services to survivors. Facilitate the development and implementation of a housing stability plan and individualized goals. Monitor monthly progress toward goals. Identifies positive solutions for participants that are strength-based, trauma informed, and gender-specific. Works in collaboration with the Outreach Advocacy team, InVEST, Community Services, and Child Welfare Programs to address more specific case management needs such as safety, current economic condition, or medical needs. • Schedule and conduct monthly meetings with survivors to create and review financial spending plan, budget, and longer-term stabilization goals. Work in collaboration with the Economic Empowerment Advocate to identify and build steady employment/income, money management strategies, and educational/career goals. Assess and monitor the current financial situation including budget and financial spending. • Serve as a representative in the community. Promote decreasing housing barriers and financial barriers for survivors and their families through community advocacy work and maintaining ongoing engagement with the community, landlords, and other housing/homeless providers. Attend, coordinate, and schedule community partner meetings and outreach opportunities to build collaborative relationships with community partners and stakeholders. • Establish and maintain a working relationship with appropriate service providers/community agencies to assure basic needs of participants are met. Facilitate system navigation through case coordination (effective communication, information sharing, and collaboration). Advocate on behalf of the participant to ensure timely access to services, appropriate interventions are being offered, and barriers are being reduced across services and systems of care services. Follow and maintain all confidentiality standards when advocating on behalf of the participant with a community partner. • Maintain up-to-date and accurate client service file and client database including appropriate documentation of all individual services, referrals, and financial assistance provided. Ensure releases of information are up to date and detailed. Participates in peer file reviews to ensure quality assurance of files. Meet the position’s quality assurance standards and any funding contractual obligations. • Follow State and Agency guidelines when reports of child abuse and incident reports are required and notifies supervisor in a timely manner.

Additional requirements:

Employee will be required to take the Department of Children and Families Core Competency training and obtain a passing grade of 75% or higher.
