Job Description

Position:

VOCA Manager/Advocate (Victims of Crime Act)

Reports To:

CWF Program Manager

Status:

Full Time – Hourly – Non-Exempt

Overview:

VOCA Manager/Advocate is responsible for providing direct services to victims of crime to lessen the trauma experienced due to their victimization. Provides immediate crisis intervention services and identifies and contacts other social service agencies and/or law enforcement as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive victim services to individuals and/or families who have been a victim of a crime, serve as an advocate and provide resources to assist victims through their journey.
Ensure grant compliance by accurately completing monthly and quarterly reports and in a timely manner.
Act as a liaison for the victim with the criminal justice system and assist with protective orders, if necessary.
Oversee delivery of services to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
Assist with Protective Orders and communicate with detectives, patrol officers, and probation/parole officers as needed.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional groups and organizations.
Experience in homeless services, case management, mental health, permanent supportive housing, and rapid rehousing preferred.
Commitment and ability to engage in an empathetic, non-judgmental way with people in stressful situations; establish rapport to help resolve homeless households immediate housing crisis.
Ensure appropriate permanent housing options for families are offered.
Maintain confidentiality of all information and records.
The ability to effectively serve a diverse population with aptitude in the areas of conflict resolution, critical thinking and problem solving.
Other Duties as assigned by CWF Program Manager.
Qualifications
Must possess an associate degree or equivalent number of college credits in a social services field.
Candidate should have at least 2 years of case management experience.
Must be a team player and should have the ability to communicate effectively with guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
Must be able to prepare presentations and lead monthly support groups.
Must be proficient in written and verbal communication and show proficiency in computer skills.
Cultural competence across all populations.
Bi-lingual candidates and veterans are encouraged to apply.
Required Skills
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and effectively handle short notice requests and constant changes.
Ability to solve problems, make decisions and resolve conflicts.
A passion for connecting with people experiencing homelessness who are maybe “service resistant” is required.
Must be flexible, innovative, and adept to creative problem-solving.
