Shelter Case Manager (Overnight) Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA) Saint Petersburg, FL 33705 Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA) Founded in 1977, CASA is the official 501c3 domestic violence center based in Pinellas County, FL. We operate the area’s 24-hour hotline and emergency shelter; non-residential programs, such as support groups, economic empowerment and legal advocacy; Child Protective Investigative Team support; community and corporate training; and the CASA Peacemakers anti-bullying and healthy relationship school curriculum.

Major Function:
To provide case management, advocacy, and crisis intervention to survivors of domestic violence and their children who are residing at shelter.
Illustrative Duties:
Provide support, advocacy, crisis intervention, case management, and resources to survivors of domestic violence following the empowerment-based advocacy model. Answer the domestic violence hotline as well as monitoring the hotline chat to provide quality services to callers. Track and document participants entering shelter to ensure population tracking is accurate and updated daily. Carry an assigned caseload and meet with each participant on a regular basis to provide resources, advocacy, and ongoing safety planning. Participate in ongoing case reviews and case staffing’s. Complete all required paperwork, data entry, and monthly reports in a timely manner. Provide quality case management to survivors by assessing their needs and goals and help them develop and implement a plan to achieve their goals. Effectively respond to situations in shelter per CASA policy and shelter handbook. Assist survivors with completing the injunction packet and attend court with the survivor as needed. Coordinate transportation for survivors and their children. Advocate with other community agencies and the criminal justice system on participant’s behalf as requested by the survivor. Perform tasks related to participant intakes and exits, including stocking suites, packing, and storing of resident belongings. Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of all areas designated for use by participants to include sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces, taking out trash, sorting, organizing, etc. as needed. Facilitate support groups/empowerment-based workshops. Assist in cleaning and maintaining the CASA kennel as needed in addition to checking on pets that are housed in the kennel. Unpack and sort donations, food deliveries, packages, and other items. Assist in providing youth center coverage as well as in other program areas as requested by management. Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
General:
Understand and abide by all CASA’s Policies and Procedures at all times. Demonstrate a commitment to treat residents, volunteers, and co-workers in a respectful manner at all times. Attend staff meetings. Maintain all required training hours annually. Agree to work a flexible schedule when required, which may include changing schedules to ensure case management coverage, due to illness, absence, vacation other staff members, or a natural disaster. Complete special projects as requested.
Qualifications:
High school diploma with at least 6 months of related work or educational experience. Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, social work, criminal justice related experience, or other crisis related experience preferred. Demonstrate knowledge of current community resources and have the ability to maintain working relationships with agencies. Bilingual preferred. Agree to drive agency vehicles as needed. Ability to function independently and work cooperatively as a member of a team. Possess a valid Florida State Driver’s License and current automobile insurance to be verified on an annual basis. Possess the ability to climb stairs and lift at least 25 pounds. Agree to participate in a background check upon employment. All employees of CASA are considered “essential” and as such may be required to be available to remain onsite and/or required to assist during emergencies and other critical times.
