Full Job Description Position Summary:

Under direct supervision, provides a broad range of recovery supports and paraprofessional social services to clients self-identifying as being in need of, or seeking recovery from, substance use disorders and potentially the families, friends or allies of clients seeking recovery, on a continuum of care, from the inception of services until discharge. The Recovery Coaching staff will uphold the culture, principle, and values of recovery in all aspects while lending assistance and services to clients through an ongoing, mentoring relationship, to aid these clients who are seeking sustained recovery from alcohol or other drug abuse. This sustained connection builds rapport, relationship, and trust, allowing the Recovery Coach to potentially guide the client into new thought processes, feelings, and behaviors necessary to gain and strengthen recovery. The Recovery Coaching staff will utilize active listening, open-ended questions, will manage personal biases and be willing to share their lived experience with addiction, treatment and recovery with clients who seek long-term recovery from addiction. Additionally, Recovery Coaching staff will act as an advocate for recovery as they strive to build a working relationship with specific and personal knowledge of different pathways to recovery to help clients realize their goals and regain and sustain recovery. The Recovery Coaching staff approach will be client centered, drawing from the strengths of each client being served, and will deliver personalized services addressing the clients needs, experiences, perceived barriers, and goals while creating an ongoing system of social, emotional, instrumental and spiritual support with linkage to community resources. Recovery Coaches will assist with health and wellness, spirituality, employment, education, skills training, family relationships and linkage with community recovery supports. Recovery Coaches also will serve as auxiliary supports to other treatment services provided by clinically licensed personnel.

Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:

Completes client program intakes and/or screenings for database by utilizing client interviews and when appropriate collateral information may be obtained from their families, significant others, and appropriate community agencies: Interviews clients and/or family members, partners, past providers, and other allies by using acceptable techniques to obtain necessary collateral information that will assist client with obtaining and sustaining recovery. Responsible for following HIPPAA guidelines when obtaining collateral information and will complete all required documentation to maintain confidentiality guidelines. Documents encounters and activities with clients to develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive records or data in accordance with agency documentation guidelines. Monitors and documents progress towards treatment goals and successful engagement in services. Utilizes peer supports to assist client in developing recovery capital goals/Personal Recovery Plans and assists client with locating and utilizing community resources to obtain their recovery capital goals, such as, but not limited to legal, medical, financial assistance, and other referral services. Utilizes peer supports to assist client with engagement in identified and agreed treatment plan goals: Builds transparent working relationships based on shared lived experience to provide peer support to clients that have survived an overdose or have other challenges with substance misuse. Offers to provide information on addiction, the recovery process, and multiple pathways to sustained recovery. Facilitates development of relationships with individuals, support/mutual aid groups and services providers, as appropriate. Contacts client on a phased level of treatment that is recommended and agreeable to client. Monitors and documents clients progress towards treatment plan/ Personal Recovery Plan goals. Encourages and supports client to participate in group, individual counseling, ADSS, nursing assessments, provider appointments, MAT services, and any other recommended treatment services for obtained and sustained recovery. Utilizes peer supports to assist clients with crisis interventions and link client to crisis services outside the scope of peer supports. Manages professional boundaries in working peer relationship and will seek ongoing supervision for any guidance or adjustments needed. Provides supports, coordinates with, and acts as a liaison between client, approved family members, friends, allies, medical staff, case manager and with other treatment programs to assure that clients are receiving services at the appropriate level of care. Supports client during transitions to a new level of care. Engages in pre-release, release, and post-release discharge planning from residential treatment programs when applicable. Maintains contact with other programs/agencies that are apart of clients treatment team to provide information and/or obtain information on clients overall progress. Alerts all staff relationships and/or programs when the safety or well-being of client is at risk and work to effectively manage the risk. Provides information and education about addiction, the recovery process, community supports, and recovery pathways. Provides support to families and allies of clients who have experienced overdose or other challenges with substance misuse. Attends and participates in treatment team meetings to provide input. Manages, develops, and sustains relationships with community resources. Maintains existing, or develops and sustains, new relationships with community resources, supports and services. Provides linkage to and follow-up about resources as clients or their support systems may need. Manages the programs resource guide by adding new resources and updating contact information from various agencies as needed. Builds and maintains strong collaborative relationships with community partners. Provides education to community partners about services provided at Advantage. Provides education to community partners about the recovery process. Serves as an advocate for clients to assist with linkage to necessary treatment and recovery supports. Maintains and adheres to professional boundaries while engaging with community partners. Other Recovery Coach staff employment duties: Completes all assigned RELIAS trainings, and all annual agency trainings for employment. Maintains all professional endorsements by participating in continuing education. Operates personal or state vehicle and observes all safety laws and agency procedures. Maintains a valid and appropriate license to operate agency vehicle. Any other duties assigned by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist (CARES) or eligible to obtain CARES.

Preferred Qualifications:

CARES endorsement 1 year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) work experience in social services delivery (case management, outreach, prevention/education, etc.) for addictive diseases. Strong communication skills and recovery language Knowledge of Addictive Diseases treatment models
