Distinguishing Features The supervisor of the Adult In-Home Services Unit is responsible for the work of five Social Workers and one Transportation Aide. The social workers provide In-Home Services case management. The case management provided includes coordination of In-Home Aide services, Medicaid Administrative Claiming, Meals-On-Wheels, Adult Day Care/Adult Day Health, Representative Payee services and rotation for General Services Intake. The Social Workers assist the general public with accessing resources to meet various needs. The supervisor will oversee the assessment of clients, and the subsequent referral and coordination of services which are provided by subcontractors to include Home Health agencies, Adult Day Care/Adult Day Health facilities, and other community organizations. The supervisor in this position is also responsible for the authorization of payments of invoices submitted by subcontractors. In addition, the supervisor oversees the non-emergency transportation services provided to clients. This position calls for the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple programs. A fleet of county vehicles is available for home visits. Minimum Education and Experience Minimum requirements include Graduation from college with a four-year degree in social work, human services field or related curriculum and four years’ experience in the human service field, rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, group work, or community organization. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. Must possess a valid driver’s license as it may be necessary to make home visits, to assist with transportation to medical appointments and on essential errands. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Social Work Supervisor responsibilities include but are not limited to: Directing and assigning the work of the In-Home Services Unit with accountability for employees’ work, to best utilize manpower and other resources. Examines the work of direct reports for productivity, quality, and timeliness to determine compliance with federal, state, and agency standards, policies, and goals. Plans with division management, the short and long-range work operations, priorities, and goals within the In-Home Services Unit. Evaluates unit management/performance and resources to optimize efficiency and effectiveness, identifying opportunities for operational improvements as applicable. Regularly meets with the unit to review program objectives and service delivery needs, providing information to and receiving information from staff.
Skills needed:
1. Demonstrates/Possesses knowledge of methods and principles of onboarding, supervision, and training for human services professionals. 2. Demonstrates knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. 3. Possesses knowledge or demonstrates experience with providing service to vulnerable, disabled, and elderly adults and the resources to meet their needs. 4. Possesses knowledge of the laws, policies, and guidance that govern social work programs applicable to adult services. 5. Demonstrates the ability to express ideas clearly/concisely both verbally and in writing. 6. Demonstrates the ability to plan and execute work effectively, independently, and with minimal supervision. 7. Demonstrates the ability to collaborate effectively with staff across multiple disciplines and agencies. 8. Demonstrates a willingness to receive and apply guidance from the supervisor and members of executive leadership. 9. Demonstrate the ability to initiate and maintain community partnerships with other public and private organizations. 10. Possesses knowledge or demonstrates experience working with contracted providers, management of invoices and/or accounts payable(purchasing).
