ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This job description should not be interpreted as all-inclusive. It is intended to identify the basic functions and requirements of this position. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description. Leads participants in a program created to provide a warm, caring environment where they feel important and wanted; provides programs to stimulate their minds, give information, entertain, and provide fellowship with other participants of the community; assists participants in being an active part of their community by assisting them in participating in functions offered in the community; ensures program feed their physical, mental, emotional, material, and spiritual needs. Plan and coordinates program activities as outlined in the Veterans contract. Provide case management services to help participants successfully transition to and maintain housing; Conducts screenings and assessments for all participants entering into the program. Work along with VA to accept referrals for the program. Consistently work with participants to monitor treatment plans Conduct drug screenings with participants as required by the VA.; Assess need for supportive services and link clients to internal and external resources, including medical care, mainstream benefits, mental health, and substance abuse recovery services. Maintain monthly program participant records, including progress notes, individual service plans and demographic information Maintaining awareness of latest trend and new materials that may promote development of program participants. Respond appropriately to resident emergencies, conflicts, and behavioral concerns or conflicts; Use crisis prevention and intervention techniques to handle acute incidents of physical and mental health crisis; Informs participants of Corps activities and encourages their participation; prepares and provides a monthly calendar of events. Responsible for planning and implementation of group activities. Prepares required records, reports, and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner; maintains an accurate accounting of petty cash and income. Ensures that all activities are in compliance with The Salvation Army mission, rules, and regulations. Promotes good public relations in the local community. Properly represents The Salvation Army leading by example and demonstrating interest in the spiritual well being of all participants and personnel associated with the program

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Drives a Salvation Army van to transport participants. Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

EDUCATION

AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health from an accredited college or university And a minimum of three years’ experience in providing services to mentally ill individuals with complex psychosocial stressors to include chronic homelessness and/or

PTSD. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Valid State Driver’s License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission and ministry. Knowledge of effective practices and procedures of program management. Knowledge of Crisis Prevention and Intervention techniques.. Ability to interpret and implement programs to meet goals and objectives. Ability to work with the homeless population. Ability to establish and promote relationships with program participants. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clients as well as service providers. Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement activities appropriate for program participants. Ability to plan, organize, and promote program participation. Ability to prepare and maintain statistical records in an accurate manner. Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to administer programs within established budget constraints. Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and extended trips.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic. Work is performed in an office, shelter or social service facility where there are little to no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
