About the Jefferson County Area Agency on

Aging:

JCAAA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The agency provides around 17 different services for the elderly throughout Jefferson County. All persons over the age of sixty who reside in the county may participate in the programs funded by the Area Agency on Aging. Federal regulations require the Agency to give those persons over the age of sixty preference who are in the greatest economic and social need. The Area Agency on Aging is governed by a Board of Directors, who has the responsibility of overseeing the Agency’s operations. The Executive Director of the Agency has the responsibility of overseeing the Agency’s activities.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain caseload of Protective Service cases
• Investigate allegations of physical abuse, caregiver neglect, self-neglect, sexual abuse, verbal abuse, exploitation and abandonment
• Perform field assessments to determine program eligibility
• Assist consumers in completing applications for assistance as required
• Provides back-up for internal support as requested

Required Skills:

• Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team
• Intermediate expertise with Microsoft Office suite and/or other computer assessment tool
• Excellent communication/writing skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently
• Previous Crisis training or experience preferred Required Experience
• Bachelor’s degree with 12 credits in Psychology, Sociology, or social welfare, or other related social sciences is required
• Concentration or minor in gerontology is a plus
• One or more years of experience as a case manager is required
• One or more years of experience working with the aging population is preferred.
