EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Job Duties
- Conduct assessments and compile psychosocial histories aimed at planning for pretrial release, case preparation, and post-dispositional placement and treatment options.
- Conduct assessments to identify urgent or emergent behavioral health and substance abuse treatment needs.
- Document and interpret symptoms of behavioral health impairment for use by legal team in developing case strategy.
- Collect social and family histories through interviews and document review.
- Obtain and review clients’ relevant health and social records and reports.
- Attend court hearings and present recommendations in court, as needed.
- Regularly visit clients in custody in person and via remote visitation.
- Continually network with treatment and housing providers to ensure appropriate matches between clients and providers.
- Collaborate with defense lawyers (including diversionary court lawyers and family court lawyers) regarding case strategy and maintain timely communications with team regarding assigned case tasks and client needs.
- Supervise and mentor student interns enrolled in graduate-level social work education.
- Accurately document client contacts and notes using case management software.
