This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Charleston Dorchester Center, 2125 Charlie Hall Blvd, Charleston

SC 29414.

Responsibilities for this Position Title include but are not limited to: Under close supervision of the Team Leader, answers incoming crisis calls and provides telephonic crisis intervention services to include text, chat, screening and consultation in a culturally competent manner for the 988 Suicide Lifeline. Identifies concerns with mental illness, developmental disabilities and/or substance use and refers to the appropriate resources. Utilize assessment information and community resources to provide information and/or linkage and referral to services. Knowledgeable of and accountable for documentation expectations. Demonstrates recognition of the importance of collaboration and teamwork within the Center and the community.

Minimum and Additional Requirements State Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences and professional experience in human services or social services programs.

Preferred Qualifications A bachelor’s degree and demonstration of understanding and 1 year experience with triage, referral, and assessment for mental health emergent and/or treatment needs. Working knowledge of mental health principles and practices; experience working and/or education in the mental health field; good listening skills; working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies in the community; ability to multi-task; remain calm in a crisis; good writing skills. Ability to screen, assess and consult with callers. Experience in the crisis continuum of care a plus. Additional Comments •This is an essential position and may require some afterhours work to help fill in when staff are out and/or position could be designed for after hours or weekends.
