Community Outreach Coordinator The Children’s Hunger Project 26 Forrest Avenue, Cocoa, FL 32922 The Children’s Hunger Project (TCHP) is a 501(c)(3) providing weekend nutrition to at-risk Brevard students since 2010. We began serving 27 students in one school and have grown to serve 4,700 students weekly. Working for The Children’s Hunger Project provides a strong sense of purpose and an opportunity to use your skills to serve your community, Description The Community Outreach Coordinator will coordinate community outreach initiatives to include volunteer opportunities. This individual will work to increase community awareness and build/maintain relationships with individuals and organizations affiliated with Brevard County, to include the faith community. Responsibilities include working occasional weekend and evening events which allows flexibility for hours during the work week. Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate all volunteer staffing efforts of the organization to include food packings and other events.
- Analyze current participation of organizations and identify areas of opportunity.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive and innovative community outreach plan targeting volunteers and donors.
- Actively reach out to community groups and organizations to explore partnership opportunities.
- Organize, attend and/or participate in events (ie. in-house and community outreach and/or fundraising events) such as: o Packing and food donation events o Fight Child Hunger 5K o Love A Kid Luncheon o Various festivals and annual events o Volunteer recognition events
- Assist in promotion of TCHP via Facebook and other social media
- Prepare collateral for special events (i.e. tent, event box, brochures, pledge cards, fliers, etc).
- Assist with loading/unloading vehicles for event preparation.
- Assist in warehouse utilizing manual pallet jack loading/unloading of food items to include lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Lead and participate in packing events as needed.
- Coordinate or assist in coordination of special projects, i.e., donation campaigns, back-to-school and summer break programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
