JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the specific direction of the Communications Director, the Outreach Coordinator performs professional work in office administration supporting election and organizational functions, as well as public relations through community outreach.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement and execute an outreach plan for increased public awareness of Elections and Voter Registration programs and activities. Plan, coordinate, and perform activities and logistics in support of community activities in the established outreach plan, as mandated by Florida statute. Process voter registration applications & mail ballot requests received and document all community activities, providing written record and reference of outreach events. Coordinate and conduct supervised voting at assisted living facilities. Post-election paperwork management and processing. Coordinate and attend community engagements with civic clubs, citizens associations, educational institutions, and other community organizations, to provide information relating to Elections and Voter Registration. Develop and implement special projects for the Supervisor of Elections. Serve as additional support for elections operations as needed. Perform related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political/Social Science, Public Administration, Marketing, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited university or equivalent experience in a closely related field.
Preferred:
Fluent in English and Spanish
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Ability to review and interpret election statutes and rules. Highly organized. Excellent time management skills. Capable of dealing tactfully with the public. Excellent problem-solving skills. Superior networking and engagement skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook. Ability to coordinate and administer projects with flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills that allow the ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external relationships. Ability to work with minimum direction and as a team player when required. Capable of discretion and judgment in carrying out administrative details.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Travel is required; must possess a valid Florida Drivers’ License Overtime is required Must be a registered voter in Florida
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit for 5-8 hours daily Frequent periods of standing Lifting items of 25 lbs or less on occasion
