Our Member Share Grocery Program (MSGP) and other supportive programs ensure our community members have access to resources, crisis care, case management, food and household subsidies and transformative education necessary to stabilize their current situations and permanently improve their lives for the future.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Outreach Coordinator, (COC), at UAP helps us to break the cycle of poverty by coordinating outreach programs that contribute to our goal of helping to lift lives out of poverty and up to economic self-sufficiency. The COC is responsible for increasing awareness of the UAP Food Assistance Program, and the UAP Employment Program throughout the City of Orlando and Orange County with an ultimate goal of positively impacting the community. In addition, the individual in this role will develop strong relationships with a variety of external stakeholders and will be directly involved in community outreach efforts.
- This is a 1 year, grant-funded position, with the potential for priority consideration for future open positions in the organization, if qualified, at the conclusion of the grant.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Mobile Prosperity Project Implementation:
Lead on-the-ground coordination of the Mobile Prosperity Project using strategies and campaign materials developed by the Executive Director.
- Interacting with many different types of groups including the general public and community partners.
Collaborate with the Marketing Director to produce engaging videos and short-form content for UP’s social media platforms, aimed at increasing program awareness and driving community interest. Support the Development Department by gathering impactful client stories for grant reporting and other departmental needs; compile and submit monthly statistical reports to the Executive Director. Represent United Against Poverty (UAP) at local meetings and community events to strengthen relationships with community members, local officials, and key stakeholders. Actively contribute to weekly team meetings by sharing updates, addressing concerns, and celebrating successes in both group settings and one-on-one check-ins. Participate in webinars and training sessions to deepen knowledge of food banks, food insecurity, and the Workforce Program. Provide support for various ad-hoc projects across departments as needed. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience.
- Prior Public Benefits experience is a plus (professional or personal).
- Proficient in
Microsoft Office:
Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Relationship management skills. Nurture strong professional relationships with coworkers, partners – current and potential, and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated.
- Excellent, professional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to speak comfortably in front of groups and lead training sessions.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2 to 4 years non-profit experience
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred.
PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift 25 pounds to carry equipment and supplies as needed
- Regular driving throughout Orange County.
- Extended periods of sitting while working on a phone and computer. Indoor office environment and indoor warehouse environment with moderate noise at grocery location.
- 25-50% of time spent off-site in the community and attending various meetings.
- Office hours are 8am – 4:30pm, but schedule varies based on Department needs.
Possible evening and weekend hours.
