Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator Position Description:
BMA is seeking to hire a Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator to be responsible for the execution of a large-scale workforce needs assessment and strategic planning initiative. Working closely with our project team, this individual will help design and implement inclusive, community-centered engagement activities aimed at reaching workers, employers, and community partners and underserved populations. The coordinator will help with local outreach strategies, coordinate logistics, build relationships with stakeholders, and ensure that engagement activities are culturally responsive, accessible, and aligned with broader project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Support development and refinement of the engagement strategy, incorporating local context and real-time feedback. Creates and implements an outreach and community engagement plans and programs including assessment and analysis of programs and services in association with community partners, business, non-profit, government, religious, and educational entities including K-12 schools. Plan, coordinate, and conduct health fairs, training workshops, focus groups, conferences, and other coordinated events to disseminate health promoting best practices to the community. Develop community partnerships and awareness around workforce development and opportunity initiatives. In conjunction with Center marketing colleagues, prepares educational and promotional materials to expand exposure to targeted educational and special events. Assists in communication and support to advisory boards and affiliated community partners and organizations. Coordinate and execute a variety of outreach and engagement activities including events, workshops, virtual meetings, etc. Cultivate relationships with community-based organizations, municipal contacts, local schools, and workforce development partners. Ensure that outreach is inclusive of diverse communities (e.g., low-income populations, international residents, youth, legal system individuals. Assist in producing outreach materials (flyers, social media content, signage) and ensure materials are culturally and linguistically appropriate. Track participation and feedback to inform adaptive changes to the outreach approach. Participate in Steering Committee and internal planning meetings, providing insight into outreach execution and community dynamics. Support internal coordination with various departments (e.g., housing, economic development, transportation, communications). Contribute to project reporting by summarizing engagement activities, outcomes, and lessons learned. Desired experience for community outreach coordinator includes: Bachelor’s Degree and experience working in a not-for-profit environment. Prior work supporting public sector, nonprofit, or workforce development initiatives is a strong plus. 2-5 years of experience in community outreach, grassroots organizing, stakeholder engagement, or program coordination. Experience working with diverse and/or multilingual communities, ideally in suburban or mixed rural/urban settings. Bilingual, fluent in Spanish preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills, including a great degree of comfort and effectiveness in public speaking and presentation. Familiarity with engagement technologies (e.g., survey tools, QR code platforms, virtual meeting tools).
