The Medical College of Gia (MCG) is one of the nation’s largest medical schools by class size, with students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third and fourthyear students across the state, and two fouryear campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Gia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Gia Southern University). Job Summary
Under the direction of Dr. Bevel, The Cancer Prevention Control and Population Health program at the Gia Cancer Center are seeking a highly driven and talented candidate to fill the position of Community Outreach CoordinatorResearch Assistant. The role will entail production of highlevel data analyses, recruitmentretention of study participants andmunity partners, and maintenance of the hydroponic vertical garden associated with epidemiologic research andmunity outreach.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Screening, Recruitment, and Retention of Study Participants
Screening, recruitment, and retention of study participantsmunity partners in the Paceline grant and subsequent awards (HARVESTHD).
Community outreach responsibilities include coordination of outreach to newmunity partners via existingmunity partners (e.g. Ebony Tree Farms, Studio Farmers Inc.).
Liaison to existingmunity partners about grant deliverables and future tasks.
Represent GCC at localregionalstatenationalmunity events including but not limited to health fairs, conferences, etc.
Maintain metrics for tracking outreach events as needed.
Participate in future intervention development.
Prepare Equipment and Supplies
Prepare equipment and supplies to conduct transplantation and harvest ofanic produce from the modularized hydroponic vertical garden (aka microfarm).
Data Analysis Qualitative data analysis (descriptive statistics and thematic analysis of study participants).
Quantitative data analysis (primary and secondary analyses of food environmentobesityrelated cancer data in SAS statistical software or otherparable statistical software).
Generating reports for dissemination from the respective data analyses.
ManuscriptAbstract Production
Highlevel literature reviews.
Assistance in the production of multiple manuscripts.
Assistance in the production of abstracts for posteroral presentation at nationalinternational public health conferences.
Record Results
Record results, quality control and maintenance of Excel spreadsheet for daily monitoring of microfarm. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in related field and a minimum of years of experience in public health andormunity outreach andor applicable field.
