Additionally, this role coordinates outreach efforts to raise awareness of volunteer opportunities within our facility. Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana believes every employee contributes significantly to the company’s success; assigned responsibilities should not limit that contribution. Therefore, employees must offer their talents, expertise, and services whenever necessary to achieve company goals. Primary Relationships The position reports to the Community Engagement Manager. The position will have primary working relationships within the organization with the Community Engagement Manager, Community Outreach Coordinator, Warehouse Supervisor and Executive Chef. Principal Accountabilities Work closely with the Community Outreach Supervisor to create and maintain a robust volunteer management program. Assist with volunteer data scheduling and reporting in the VolunteerHub application. Participate in providing volunteer orientation, tours, and announcements. Responsible for administrative tasks such as answering volunteer requests via email or phone, filing documents, data entry and other duties where needed. Volunteer Education Assists with building awareness and engaging volunteer opportunities within our facility and with community partners. Responsible for meeting, greeting, and providing Second Harvest Food Bank volunteer orientation, including volunteer safety measures and expectations. Provide volunteer articles, schedule and special event updates for the monthly newsletter. Creating and updating the volunteer information boards where needed. Data Reporting Maintain tracking and reporting on volunteer activity, which includes cancellation tracking. Responsible for administrative and communication processes for volunteer scheduling, registration, and supporting our Second Harvest Departments such as Operations, Impact, Marketing & Development, and Human Resources volunteer schedule where duties are needed. Maintain a filing system of waivers and other volunteer forms. Assists with completed service hour letters where needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical knowledge).

Experience:

1-2 years of experience with direct contact with the public involving volunteer coordination, public relations, marketing, and customer service.

Skills and Capabilities:

The ideal candidate will possess many of these professional and personal abilities and attributes: Knowledge of standard office management practices and procedures, including reception, record-keeping, prioritization of work, and using standard office equipment, including computers. Ability to master in-house software and reporting system. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites. Excellent problem-solving skills and behavior management skills. Strong communication and presentation skills with an emphasis on customer service.
