FUM Personnel Policy Position Summary:

The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for managing Fayetteville Urban Ministry’s outreach efforts, including volunteer recruitment, public relations, digital communications, and event coordination. This individual will serve as the organization’s primary marketing liaison and historian, helping to build strong relationships with community stakeholders while enhancing FUM’s visibility and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and assist with major organizational fundraisers (e.g., Boss Toss, Golf Tournament, Honor Card Campaign, Gala). Recruit and retain volunteers through outreach activities, public speaking engagements, and in-person networking. Cultivate partnerships with local businesses, professional groups, and civic organizations to secure financial support, in-kind donations, volunteers, and other resources. Manage FUM’s web presence, including social media platforms, electronic newsletters, and other digital communication tools. Develop and maintain documentation such as reports, correspondence, marketing materials, funding applications, and newsletters. Serve as FUM’s organizational historian and lead marketing professional. Conduct outreach calls and correspondence as needed to support programs and events. Distribute program materials to participants, donors, and community partners. Coordinate and participate in community events, booth displays, and networking opportunities to promote FUM’s services. Facilitate or assist in workshops and meetings related to marketing, networking, and volunteer engagement. Assist with intern, work-study, and volunteer orientations, including background checks as needed. Support ongoing communications with referring agencies, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders. Attend relevant training, conferences, and workshops to enhance professional development. Emphasize both digital and face-to-face outreach; strong interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; or minimum of three years of relevant experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and digital marketing tools. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Strong sense of responsibility, honesty, dependability, and accountability. Must possess a valid NC driver’s license and have a clean driving record. Willingness to undergo and pass a background check (applicants must be open to discussing any issues that may appear on the report). Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Positive attitude, sense of humor, and a passion for community service.
