This program works collaboratively with other One Step Further programs and various agencies to ensure the identified needs and support services of individuals and families are met. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and document daily canvassing of assigned target areas
- Develop avenues for communicating with community residents
- Collect information on potential conflicts in communities
- Work with Community Engagement Coordinator to formulate action plans to help resolve conflicts and prevent possible retaliation
- Develop relationships with influential individuals and groups in the community
- Use data and knowledge of team to identify, detect, and reduce risk for violence
- Meet with high-risk individuals and groups on a daily basis to discuss issues
- Refer potential participants appropriate resources or services
- Distribute public education materials within the community
- Assist in organizing and participating community responses and events
- Complete and submit documentation electronically of all activities on a weekly basis to the Community Engagement Coordinator
- Other duties as assigned Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual proficiency preferred
- Knowledge of assigned target area
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Extensive experience working with high risks youths and gang members
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- No pending criminal cases Education High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in human service area preferred
