Position Overview The AmeriCorps Outreach Coordinator will expand NAMI Wake County’s visibility, community reach, and training efforts by supporting and strengthening our outreach infrastructure. This position balances external engagement (attending outreach events, meeting with potential partners) with internal development (building training materials, refining tracking systems, contributing to team operations). The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and passionate about mental health awareness. Primary Responsibilities Community Engagement & Outreach (External) Represent NAMI Wake at community events, meetings, and tabling opportunities Identify and initiate outreach to new partner organizations that align with NAMI Wake’s mission Receive, track, and respond to incoming outreach requests from the community Assist in sharing NAMI resources at events, and connect with potential training sites, volunteers, and donors Help raise awareness of NAMI Wake by identifying outreach opportunities such as public events and sponsorships Training & Education Support Get certified in one or more NAMI signature programs (dependent on lived experience and interest) Co-facilitate trainings or provide logistical support (set-up, coordination, feedback collection) Support special initiatives such as Sharing Hope, Ending the Silence, or custom youth education efforts Develop and deliver a basic outreach training curriculum for new volunteers (adapted from NAMI Maryland materials) Process Development & Administration Refine or build systems for managing outreach requests, event tracking, and stakeholder engagement Maintain updated records of outreach metrics, event impact, and partnership pipelines Support communication needs such as outreach emails, flyers, and Canva designs (if capable or willing to learn) Collaborate with the Executive Director and team on operational tasks and one-off projects Ideal Candidate Will Have A passion for mental health advocacy and community connection Strong communication and organizational skills A self-starting attitude with openness to feedback and supervision Willingness to represent NAMI Wake at public events (some evenings/weekends required) Comfort using Microsoft Office tools, Canva, and virtual platforms like Teams and Zoom Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment Lived experience with mental health (personally or through a loved one) is a plus and may be required for some NAMI training roles Position Logistics Member will receive a furnished private office, NAMI laptop, and access to office supplies Paid parking provided in downtown Raleigh Hybrid schedule expected (in-office 3x/week minimum), with subject to change based on performance and organizational needs Weekly 1:1 supervision with the Executive Director and team check-ins Please copy and paste this link to apply, https://health360inc.my.site.com/s/americorps-guest-application The organization you are applying to is the National Mental Health Corps!
