Position Title:
Outreach Coordinator (AmeriCorps) The Outreach Coordinator AmeriCorps at NAMI Wake County will strengthen the organization’s visibility and outreach infrastructure while increasing access to evidence-based mental health education. The member will engage in public-facing community work and internal capacity-building projects to support volunteer training, partnership development, and mental health awareness efforts.

1,700 total service hours (40 hours/week)
Compensation:
$21,250 living allowance (bi-weekly installments) $7,395 Segal Education Award upon successful completion 5 holidays 2.5 personal days
Duration:
10-month service commitment (host site will determine start and end dates) Key Responsibilities Community Engagement & Outreach Represent NAMI Wake at outreach events, tabling opportunities, and community meetings Build and maintain relationships with community partners, potential host sites, and mental health stakeholders Identify and contact prospective organizations aligned with NAMI Wake’s mission Respond to and document incoming outreach requests and coordinate NAMI’s participation Contribute to public awareness by identifying opportunities for visibility (e.g., events, sponsorships) Training & Program Facilitation Become certified in one or more NAMI signature programs (based on eligibility and lived experience) Support the facilitation of mental health programs such as Ending the Silence, Sharing Hope, or other approved offerings Adapt and deliver outreach training to new volunteers and AmeriCorps members Collect and submit training evaluations and participation metrics as directed by NMHC Internal Capacity Building Develop and refine outreach systems (e.g., request tracking, impact metrics, volunteer assignment processes) Assist with marketing and communications (flyers, outreach emails, basic Canva design) Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute to shared office responsibilities Collaborate with communications interns, volunteers, and team members to support events and initiatives AmeriCorps Program Engagement Participate in AmeriCorps-wide service projects and monthly national NMHC calls Attend required AmeriCorps trainings and support regional mental health events Support grant-writing activities related to outreach and training initiatives – Experience Preferred Passion for mental health education and advocacy Strong communication, research, and organizational skills Experience with outreach, community partnerships, or event coordination Personal or professional experience with mental health (self or loved one) Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and cloud-based tools (e.g., OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, collaborative Word and Excel documents) Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to represent NAMI in diverse community spaces
