Position Summary:
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Coordinator (Educator) for the Department of Emergency Medicine within New Jersey Medical School. The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Research Coordinator to support various aspects of the ED ALT and Essex County Project, both of which are funded by SAMHSA . This autonomous position will devote 50% of its time to research through the ED Alt grant and 50% to community education through the ED Essex County grant. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Develop and strengthen partnerships with community organizations (e.g., shelters, respite centers, schools) to optimize outreach efforts focused on overdose response, naloxone education, and harm reduction. Conduct targeted community outreach and training sessions, aiming to educate at least 300 participants annually on overdose prevention strategies and the use of naloxone Plan, coordinate, and facilitate educational workshops on overdose prevention, naloxone administration, and harm reduction strategies. Track and evaluate outreach efforts, maintaining accurate records of participant engagement and training outcomes to ensure annual goals are met. Develop culturally competent and accessible educational materials tailored to diverse community needs. Stay informed on emerging trends, policies, and best practices related to harm reduction and overdose response to continuously improve outreach efforts.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree plus three (3) years of experience in similar activities in scientific research, or a master’s degree plus two (2) years of experience as indicated. Equivalent, or a high school diploma plus equivalent years of experience, education, and training may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree requirements.

Ability to speak clearly and write proficiently. Hearing is essential. Must be able to focus on the task at hand despite numerous interruptions. Must be able to sit for an extended period and document into an electronic medical record.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position requires working in a moderate noise office setting. Fast-paced, high-pressure office environment; must be able to cooperate with a broad spectrum of staff and site visits in the University Hospital’s Emergency and Observation Department.
Salary:
A maximum of $71,000 is budgeted for this position.
