POSITION
Part-Time Multicultural Community Organizer Part-Time Temporary Non-Exempt Position at 15-20 hours/week with an end date of June 1, 2025. Based in Middle Tennessee.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) is hiring a Multicultural Community Organizer to work with our organizing team to identify and develop leadership in diverse immigrant and refugee communities, identify pressing issues and opportunities to organize in these communities, and connect individuals to TIRRC’s existing services, campaigns, and leadership development opportunities. Ideal candidates for the community organizer position are established leaders within immigrant and refugee communities in Tennessee, with strong relationships and deep networks, who have strong communication and organizational skills to identify and develop leadership in diverse immigrant and refugee communities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
: Know Your Rights Community Education Lead community education and outreach efforts on Know Your Rights information and services to ensure that immigrant and refugee communities have accurate and timely information about policy changes that impact the lives of their community; Begin the process of planning and implementing translation of TIRRC’s Know Your Rights materials into languages other than Spanish and English. Community Organizing Convene or attend individual and group meetings to deepen relationships, identify community leaders, and identify important issues affecting the community; Invite community members to any community education presentations or events both virtually and in person. Organizational Support Represent TIRRC at community events, in the media, and with other organizations as needed; Ensure all data is maintained in the organizational database; Participate in significant organizational events.
QUALIFICATIONS
Belief in TIRRC’s mission and experience with social justice; Demonstrated ability to work on deadline, be highly organized, work with little supervision, and maintain accountability and strong communication with others in collaborative projects; Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, and to build and maintain relationships with partners; Demonstrated ability and comfort with public speaking; Experience with community organizing and outreach preferred; Basic literacy with Google Suite, video conferencing, and data management systems; Availability to work flexible hours, including some nights, weekends, and travel statewide; Fluency in English required and fluency or working proficiency in another language spoken by TIRRC’s constituencies preferred; Must have reliable transportation.
WAGE AND BENEFITS
Hourly Rate:
$23/hour for 15-20 hours/week
