Job Description

Director of Outreach First Farragut United Methodist Church 12723 Kingston Pike, Farragut, TN 37934 Job Summary The Outreach Coordinator at First Farragut United Methodist Church (FFUMC) is responsible for creating, implementing, and improving events and ministries that extend the reach of the church into the surrounding community. This position seeks to foster church growth and create a positive, lasting impact on community members, aligning with FFUMC’s mission to inspire people with the love of Christ.

Key Responsibilities Community Engagement:

Identify and build relationships with community organizations, schools, businesses, and the Town of Farragut to develop partnerships that support FFUMC’s outreach goals. Represent or find ways to represent FFUMC at community events. Serve as a primary point of contact for outreach-related inquiries and initiatives.

Event Planning and Execution:

Collaborate with church staff and volunteers to plan, coordinate, and execute outreach events such as lawn parties, service projects, seasonal celebrations, and educational workshops. Develop strategies to invite and engage event attendees in ongoing church activities and ministries.

Ministry Development:

Support and enhance existing outreach ministries. Work with ministry leaders to evaluate the effectiveness of current programs and suggest improvements. Develop new pathways to connect and be in ministry with people in the community.

Marketing and Communication:

Promote outreach opportunities through social media, email, print materials, and the church website. Collect and share stories from outreach activities to inspire and engage the congregation.

Reporting and Administration:

Maintain records of outreach activities, attendance, outcomes, and volunteer involvement. Prepare regular reports for church leadership, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Develop and manage the outreach budget in consultation with the pastor and board.

Qualifications Education and Experience:

Prior experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, or community outreach preferred. Experience working within a church or faith-based organization is highly desirable.

Skills and Abilities:

Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people. Creativity and initiative in developing and executing new ideas. Proficiency in social media platforms and basic design tools is a plus.

Working Conditions This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours to accommodate outreach events and activities. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with event setup and teardown.
