Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Kids Cove is responsible for supporting the Director of Kids Cove in creating a safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching environment for children (infants through 5th grade) at Cove Church. This role emphasizes assisting in the daily operations of Kids Cove, nurturing relationships with volunteers and families, and ensuring a smooth execution of ministry programs. The Associate Director will also help the ministry partner with parents to guide children’s spiritual development.
Requirements:
Doctrinal/Theological:
Must agree with Cove Church Ministries’ doctrinal standards as found in the Faith and Practice. Must exemplify and live by Christian principles and foster a Christ-centered environment in the office.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in education, ministry, or a related field OR 5+ years of experience in education, ministry, or childhood behavioral health. Experience in education or ministry with a focus on childhood development. Proven ability to lead and manage volunteer teams. Excellent communication and organizational skills. A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrating spiritual maturity and a passion for children’s ministry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A genuine love for children and commitment to their spiritual growth. Ability to collaborate with parents and church staff. Strong organizational skills, communication and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. Flexibility to adapt to changing needs in a dynamic ministry environment. Leadership capacity to guide and inspire volunteers. Must have a collaborative and growth mindset. Confidence in using technology for scheduling, communication, and ministry management. Knowledge of Planning Center, Church Community Builders or ProPresenter is preferred. Specific Responsibilities Volunteer Coordination Assist the Director in recruiting and training volunteers for early childhood ministry (Birth through Pre-K). Create and manage the weekly Sunday morning volunteer schedule. Communicate reminders, lesson plans, and updates to volunteers. Handle scheduling conflicts and substitutions. Childcare Management Develop and coordinate childcare services for special church events (outside of Sunday services). Assist in hiring, training, and managing part-time childcare staff and direct oversight of nursery coordinator. Ensure the smooth operation of event childcare services. Event Management Assist oversight and execution of our early childhood events. Ministry Preparation Support the Director in planning weekly lessons and activities for early childhood ministry. Assist in the gathering of supplies and preparation of materials for Sunday lessons and other ministry events. Ensure classrooms and resources are ready for volunteers and children each week. Communicate with parents regularly Leadership of Sunday Ministry Teams Provide leadership and guidance to the Sunday morning Kids Cove Crew, including small and large group leaders, check-in crew and tech personnel. Help lead weekly Sunday morning volunteer devotionals. Regularly communicate and meet with team leaders, other ministry staff, and the Director to ensure alignment and success in ministry delivery.
