The Coordinator of Hispanic Ministry facilitates the communication for all Hispanic liturgical celebrations, coordination, organization, evangelization, stewardship, discipleship, including outreach support for such initiatives as membership and community building according to the vision of the Second Vatican Council, and assumes administrative responsibilities relevant to the position. Liturgical Minister:

Under the leadership of the pastor, director of music and liturgy, the responsibility of the coordinator of Hispanic ministry as a liturgical minister involves: Maintain scheduling and records of minister attendance as needed Reference the Roman Missal, Lectionary, Intercessions, Announcements, and other liturgical preparations in creation of Presider Books Maintain mass attendance records and liturgical supplies (i.e. collection bags, hosts, wine, bulletins, candles etc.) Making the creative choice of ministers exercising its judicious placement for all liturgical celebrations Liturgy planning (working with the priests and Liturgy Commission) Working with the Director of Religious Education and education staff in the preparation of children’s liturgies Meeting with individuals in preparation of Spanish weddings, funerals and Quinceañeras. Administrator:

The responsibility of the coordinator of Hispanic ministry as an administrator involves: Making liturgical policies in conjunction with the Liturgy Commission and pastoral staff, taking into consideration Diocesan and national guidelines; Planning events, festivals and fundraisers for Santo Toribio Romo Mission Church Securing liturgical ministers as needed for special celebrations, such as Christmas, Easter, Confirmation, etc. Develops, communicates, implements, and oversees comprehensive strategy to evangelize and provide pastoral care to culturally diverse and rapidly growing communities of Spanish speaking Catholics in the parish of Blessed Sacrament and Santo Toribio Romo Churches. Coordinates, implements, and maintains an up-to-date communications plan to include the delivery of timely and creative messaging and updates of parish ministry and events through the pastor’s weekly e-newsletter, bulletin, announcements, social media, website, annual reports as well as evangelization and ministry collaterals in English and Spanish. Under the direction of the Pastor, coordinates communications and marketing for stewardship initiatives including Catholic Appeal. This includes coordination of education and retreats with ministry and school in such stewardship pillars as prayer, hospitality, formation, service. Serves as part of the staff evangelization team that welcomes, registers, and assists members and newcomers in the weekend host ministry at Sunday Mass. Serves on various projects and special teams as assigned by the Pastor to assist with specific tasks related to evangelization, stewardship, ministry development and implementation. Recruits, coordinates and organizes art and environment for liturgical celebrations. CATHOLIC FAITH

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or Ministry preferred. Requires proven multi-tasking capabilities. Requires excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Must possess a heightened sense of confidentiality and a strong sense of respect for and knowledge of the Roman Catholic Church. Must be able to work well with various personalities within the Catholic Church. A thorough understanding of Roman Catholic liturgical Theology and praxis.

ORGANIZATIONAL/ INTERPERSONAL SKILLS A

high level of organizational and interpersonal skill is required. Attention to detail and working well with others is also required.

LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS

WORKING CONDITIONS

The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person will need to be available in the evening and weekends, as needed. Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (10 pounds).
