We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic Lay Ecclesial Minister ready to embrace the opportunity to help strengthen our program, invest in relationships with our parishioners, and implement a vision promoting growth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for reaching children, and adults with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the truth of the Catholic Church. This is an in-person position at the parish office in Franklin, MA . The exact responsibilities may be negotiable, as we are in the process crafting a vision for the future. Responsibilities May Include:
Coordinating Religious Education for children in Grades 1 through 6, likely on a weekday Coordinating Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist Coordinating a Family Masses (Once a Month) Coordinating various annual events, such as a Christmas Pageant and Vacation Bible School Training and overseeing volunteer Catechists Creating and implementing an annual workshop/retreat experience for families with children preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist Assisting with Communication efforts of our collaborative, including website, Constant Contact, and social media Exercise pastoral sensitivity and maintain appropriate confidentiality Implement the Archdiocese of Boston’s vision for Religious Education including guidelines for the reception of sacraments and catechetical programs for special groups including persons with disabilities.
Additional Responsibilities May Include:
Volunteer Coordination Religious Education Registration management Participate in staff activities, meetings, days of prayer and staff development. Technology support Liturgical support St. Mary Parish is located in Franklin, MA, in the West Region of the Archdiocese of Boston. Staff members will enjoy the support of the Pastor and staff, as well as a motivated team of youth and adults who are invested in our community. This position reports directly to the Pastor.
Qualification and Education Requirements:
Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing Ability to articulate the teachings of the Church with fidelity, clarity, and personal witness to faith and relationship with Jesus Christ in a way that is accessible to children and adults Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and parishioners, and maintain professional relationships with other local and archdiocesan faith formation leaders Demonstrated leadership, communication and organizational skills and a confident public speaker, including as a leader of prayer and engaging people of all ages in learning to pray The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in theology, pastoral ministry, or a related field, with experience in Catholic faith formation strongly preferred Available at times convenient to children and families, including evenings and weekends Comfortable engaging in conversations in large and small group settings and one-on-one, even with people who lack understanding of Church teaching and who may disagree regarding issues of faith and morals Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and other computer programs for communication, including, website, Constant Contact, and social media Compliant with all necessary and required background checks, VIRTUS, and Archdiocesan policies. The role is anticipated for 15-20 hours per week. A benefits-eligible schedule of 19 or more hours per week will be considered at the discretion of the Pastor for candidates who are able to assist the Parish in multiple areas.
