Job Summary:
Holy Redeemer Parish is seeking a faith-filled, organized, and mission-driven individual to serve as Director of the Parish School of Religion (PSR) . The PSR Director oversees all aspects of the parish’s religious education program for children in grades 1-8 who attend public or non-Catholic schools. This individual will work closely with the pastor, catechists, families, and parish staff to foster a strong Catholic identity, nurture the spiritual development of students, and ensure effective catechetical instruction in accordance with Archdiocesan standards.
Job Responsibilities Program Administration:
Plan and oversee the entire PSR program calendar, including weekly classes, sacramental preparation, family events, and special liturgies. Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteer catechists and aides. Ensure curriculum aligns with the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Archdiocesan guidelines. Maintain accurate student records including registration, attendance, and sacramental documentation. Manage program budget and order necessary textbooks and supplies.
Sacramental Preparation:
Coordinate and oversee preparation for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation in collaboration with the pastor and parish staff. Organize parent meetings, retreats, and rehearsal events related to the sacraments.
Family & Parish Engagement:
Communicate regularly with parents through newsletters, emails, and meetings. Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for students and their families. Collaborate with parish ministries and staff to integrate PSR families into broader parish life.
Safe Environment & Compliance:
Ensure that all PSR staff and volunteers are in compliance with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program. Keep all program policies aligned with parish and Archdiocesan standards. Job Requirements Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and committed to the mission of Catholic education. Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, Education, or related field preferred. Experience in parish ministry, education, or catechesis strongly preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Comfortable working with digital tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and parish management software.
