Admissions Counselor (Multiple Vacancies) 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Tallahassee, FL Department Office of Admissions Responsibilities The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of Admissions, Office of the University Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management’s integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the student’s development and progression in their academic experience – from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University. Responsible for the evaluation of first-year application types and the implementation of University policies and procedures as they relate to first-year Admissions. Assists in the planning and coordinating of recruitment activities for National Merit Scholars and other high achieving students, prospective students, parents, and counselors. Assists in the coordination and management of the application review process for first-year students to the University. Assists in promoting public awareness of the various academic and scholarship programs available to National Merit Scholars and other high achieving students. Assist with the planning and coordination of personalized campus visits for National Merit Scholars and other high achieving students. Participates in the review of Honors and Presidential Scholars applications in partnership with the University Honors Program. Responsible for the implementation of University policies and procedures as they relate to first-year Admissions. Frequent contact with prospective students, applicants and their parents, the general public, officials and personnel associated with colleges/community colleges/universities, and high school counselors. Counsels current and prospective students regarding admission scholarship opportunities, eligibility and renewal requirements. Promotes participation in student success initiations (Degree in Three, More in Four, Research, Internships, Study Abroad Program, etc.) and provides counsel regarding the transition of their admissions scholarship/tuition waiver to be applied to these initiatives. Provides interpretation of policies and procedures to aforementioned entities. Some contact with principals and teachers. Extensive travel throughout Florida and out of state. Due to travel needs, position requires operation of a motor vehicle. Counsels prospective students and represents the University at sponsored events pertaining to Admissions and provides information about the University and its programs. Participates in special events hosted by the Office of Admissions. Assists in the review and evaluation of policies and procedures, making suggestions and recommendations to senior leadership. Assists other sections during peak times in support of the goals of the Division of Enrollment Management. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and five years of experience. (

a combination of post high school education and experience equal to five years.) Must have a valid Florida or Georgia Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain prior to hire. Preferred Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of complimentary experience preferred. We seek enthusiastic candidates who are detail-oriented, and who work well independently as well as in a team. Experience working with varied populations, reviewing transcripts, and interpreting and applying admissions tests is preferred. Candidates should have the ability to review, analyze, formulate, and organize data and information and follow through on assignments. Experience should be relevant and related to the responsibilities of the job. Qualified candidates will possess the ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments simultaneously. Experience counseling and/or providing expertise and advice is required. Qualified candidates will have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software. Applicants should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ideal candidates will have a strong sense of initiative, the demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently, and the ability to make sound judgments while working in a deadline-driven environment.
