SUMMARY:
TheAdmissions Coordinator (Evenings 3p-11p) is responsible for gatheringrelevant pre-admission patient information accurately & in a timelymanner, interpret the information & determine admission suitability orthe need for higher level clinical screening. This position will respondto patient, family or professional referent calls promptly & with a highdegree of sensitivity, courtesy, & professionalism. Intake Coordinatorwill project a warm & friendly demeanor to all patients, families, &referents.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provideexcellent customer service & communicate effectively with Gosnoldcustomers including patients, families, health care providers & otherreferring parties. Upon admission, determine preliminary payer status &verify health insurance coverage. Prepare & maintain accurate & completeelectronic/paper patient records, reflecting current level of care &other pertinent information. Initiate financial interviews with clients,as necessary & collect relevant documentation & money. Assist withfollow-up & collection activities to insure client payment for services.
Communicate with other departments to insure maximum utilization &reimbursement. Clearly & accurately communicate knowledge of theprograms in the Gosnold service line & optimize referrals to Gosnoldinpatient, residential, family, or outpatient programs. Retain knowledge& awareness of key Gosnold referral accounts, i.e. clinical/medicalprofessionals, alumni, PCP?s, & prioritize their requests accordingly.
Process patient records in accordance with established Gosnoldstandards, complete admission data entry accurately & in a timelymanner. Respond to general information requests (e.g., Twelve -Stepmeetings, etc.) by directing callers to websites or other informationsources. Interface with all levels of management & peers in a mannerthat promotes learning & mutual respect. Support new initiatives, seekcreative solutions to challenges, & participate in department & programimprovement projects. Collect & document pertinent financial & personalinformation relative to patient treatment. Understanding or ability tolearn about systems of addiction & mental health treatment. Collect ∫erpret clinical information provided by referents or prospectivepatients. Work as an active & cooperative member of the Patient Accessteam. Maintain accurate admission documents & prepare statisticalreports for management within established time schedules. Perform allother duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, Experience, & SKILLSREQUIRED:
Education:
High School Diploma.
Experience:
Ability to use acomputer & web-based programs.
Skills:
Strong customer serviceorientation. Knowledge of electronic data systems. Ability to accuratelyenter data into an electronic health record system. Ability tomulti-task & service multiple callers.
