Admissions Position Summary The State University of New York at Geneseo Office of Admissions is seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented, equity-minded individual who has a demonstrated commitment to the values of a liberal arts education for an Admissions Counselor position. Responsibilities for this position include actively recruiting and counseling prospective students. Activities include, but are not limited to: effective correspondence with prospective students and other constituents including written and verbal communication through territory management, interviewing and virtual and in-person presentations; travel including high school visits, college fairs, and regional presentations; event planning; application assessment; representing the College and department at on and off-campus events; and assisting with various projects in the office. Candidates are required to work alternative schedules during recruitment periods. Many of these responsibilities entail evening and weekend commitments. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship Required Qualifications Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree and be highly motivated, creative, flexible, detail-focused, and adaptable to changing environments. Must demonstrate commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents supporting campus and department missions. Previous experience in higher education or related field. This can include work-study or internship experience.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment
Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary

10% Job Duties/Responsibilities
Function 1: On-campus and Virtual Programs Coordinated and execute virtual programs.
Work with campus partners to assist with the planning and coordinating of virtual recruitment events.
Assist with the academic department’s recruitment and yield programs.
Coordinate on-campus special group visits with CBO and high schools.
Function 2: Recruitment Events In-person and virtual recruitment that includes high school visits, college fairs, and regional presentations.
Create and execute an annual recruitment plan.
Schedule and confirm all travel for high school visits, college fairs, panels for territory.
Meet with prospective students to share information about the College.
Function 3: Prospective Student Correspondence Correspondence with prospective students and other constituents including written and verbal communication through territory management.
Using prospect database, plan and implement an effective communication plan with recruits that include e-mail, phone calls, and other methods to reach students.
Function 4: Pre-college Programming Assist the Director of Admissions with coordination of pre-college program for high school juniors and seniors.
Assist with marketing, outreach, registration, and content development.
Function 5: Application Review Review all application materials and take notes as needed for assigned territory.
Follow up with applicants who are missing information from their files. Input data into Slate from the student application file.
