These positions will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, pursuant to the College’s Work Location Policy. About the Positions The Assistant Director of Admission and the Admission Counselor will be involved in all aspects of the general admission process: recruitment travel, interaction with prospective students and their families, interviewing, application review, and the selection of candidates. The Assistant Director of Admission and the Admission Counselor will also be involved in other aspects of admission operations as assigned by the Dean and/or Director of Admission, and that may depend upon specific skills and interests. Primary Responsibilities Travel within a defined territory to visit high schools, attend college fairs and conferences, and interview students
Read and evaluate applications and participating in the committee process to select candidates for admission
Interview prospective candidates on and off-campus
Conduct information sessions
Answer admission inquiries from prospective students, parents, high school counselors, and others
Plan and implement various on- and off-campus programs and initiatives
Build and maintain relationships with high schools and community-based organizations
Interact and work with other campus offices/departments and College constituencies
And may include, but not be limited to: Coordinate and support the Admission Office Fellows program
Coordinate and support efforts to recruit students from a diversity of backgrounds and identities
Serve as a liaison with other departments or programs, such as athletics, Arts departments, and/or the Alumni Volunteer program

Line of Report:

These positions will report either directly to the Director of Admission or to an Associate Director of Admission. Minimum Qualifications for Admission Counselor Bachelor’s degree
Minimum Qualifications for Assistant Director of Admission Bachelor’s degree
Two years of admission or related experience
Professional Competencies Understanding the value of a liberal arts education
Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel
Skills and experience with calendar tools
Comfort with and ability to learn about new databases, web-based data management systems, and other reporting mechanisms
Comfort and experience with high levels of discretion and the handling of confidential material and information
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to relate to a broad range of constituents (students, parents, alumni, high school counselors, etc.)
Appreciation for and sensitivity to a variety of backgrounds and traditions from which students may come
Interest in and facility with issues of access, diversity, and inclusion
Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively
