JOB SUMMARY
Columbia College is looking for a resourceful, relationship-driven professional to serve as our Graduate Admissions Counselor. This is a role for someone who understands that recruiting isn’t just about answering questions—it’s about building trust, telling stories, and meeting students where they are. As the front-line champion for our fully online graduate programs, this counselor will manage the full recruitment funnel—from inquiry through enrollment—by cultivating connections, removing barriers, and guiding students every step of the way. We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just do the job but owns it—someone who sees recruitment as a creative challenge and finds joy in helping adult learners start a new chapter.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Serves as the primary point of contact for all prospective graduate students from inquiry to enrollment. Designs and execute creative outreach strategies to identify and engage prospective students. Delivers personalized support and consistent follow-up through phone calls, emails, texts, and virtual meetings. Clearly communicates program information, admissions requirements, and next steps with warmth and accuracy. Collaborate with the Senior Assistant Director to refine graduate recruitment strategies based on trends and needs. Partners with academic program directors and faculty to stay informed on curricular offerings and timelines. Maintains accurate student records in Slate CRM and contributes to ongoing improvements in system efficiency. Participates in virtual and in-person recruitment events (info sessions, grad fairs, corporate visits, etc.). Works with Marketing and Communications to support and inform graduate-specific campaign efforts. Supports admitted students through onboarding steps, in collaboration with Student Success and Enrollment Management. Approaches work with a sense of initiative, ownership, and a belief in the transformational power of education. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
Bachelor’s degree. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and follow-through. Comfort using technology and learning CRM platforms (Slate preferred). Growth mindset and a willingness to try new strategies to reach students.
Preferred:
Previous experience in admissions, recruitment, or student support (especially in online or adult education). Familiarity with Slate or similar CRM tools. Knowledge of graduate program landscapes, adult learner needs, or nontraditional student engagement strategies. Passion for education access and working with diverse student populations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
