GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Admissions Counselor serves as a member of Southern Wesleyan University’s On-Campus program admissions team and is responsible for the recruitment of prospective students. Admissions Counselors are responsible for the achievement of assigned recruitment goals in a manner that supports the enrollment goals and upholds the mission of the university.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as the primary recruitment representative for assigned prospective students. Responsible for the achievement of enrollment goals related to net tuition, academic qualifications and the recruitment of students annually. Utilizing various communication tools (phone calls, texts, email, etc), the counselor will work to develop relationships with their prospective students. Weekly benchmarks and goals will ensure appropriate volume of communication is established. Responsible for the management of assigned recruitment territories or groups along with potential travel required annually for college fairs, church events, school visits and other recruitment activities. Responsible for meeting weekly call goals with evening phone calls throughout the recruitment cycle focused on conversion of prospective students to application status, with subsequent calls to focus on specific enrollment requirements and processes. Works closely with Assistant Director of Admissions to coordinate regularly scheduled visit days and other recruitment events. Works with the Office of Financial Aid to confirm that assigned students have received all information concerning federal, state and private financial aid options. Maintain strict adherence with NCAA Division II rules and regulations relating to the conduct and administration of the department. Assist with maintaining the student information database by entering relevant data and logging completed communication with potential students and parents. Other duties assigned. QUALIFICATIONS A

bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education experience in marketing, sales, recruitment, or financial aid is preferred. Must possess demonstrated customer service and management skills. This position requires the team member to function at a high level of organized proficiency and handle multiple, essential tasks simultaneously. Strong communications skills and relational abilities are essential. Must be a goal oriented self-starter with the ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently. SWU is committed to maximizing the use of technology in its daily operations and in achieving its strategic goals; the ideal candidate will be familiar with integrated database management systems, including reporting, and have a high comfort level with web-based, mobile and PC applications including but not limited to the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. Must be willing and able to travel within the Southeastern U.S.; a clean driving record is required.

Physical/Environmental Requirements Visual acuity necessary to do editorial work, proof documents, and manage files. Ability to sit for periods of time in an interior office environment. May require infrequent lifting objects up to 10 pounds, and occasionally items up to 20 pounds. Employee will infrequently work outside of regular work schedule for special events.
