POSITION SUMMARY
The Special Education Coordinator of East Alabama Academy is responsible for ensuring that the educational processes serve the following needs: a safe learning environment, compliance with the State of Alabama guidelines and reporting requirements for a Specialized Treatment Center, the individualized educational needs of each student, and that correct Special Education procedures are followed as necessary. This position also develops and maintains a positive working relationship and teamwork mentality with all psychiatric unit staff.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in education. Teaching certificate in the state of Alabama, endorsed in the Core Academic Subjects Minimum Experience Special Education experience Required Registration/License/Certification Al Special Education Certification obtained within 3 months of Hire (Praxis) Preferred Education Master’s Degree in education preferred Preferred Experience N/A Preferred Registration/License/Certification Drivers License BCLS within 90 days of DOH/Transfer CPI certification within 12 months of hire/transfer
