The ECCP Clinician is an expert in the promotion of positive infant and early childhood mental health. The ECCP Clinician will possess skills that include a thorough knowledge of early childhood development coupled with an understanding of family dynamics and relationship building on an individual/family, provider, and community level. This position will represent the consultant’s home agency and

in a positive and professional manner and adhere to both home agency and ECCP/ABH’s best practices, guidelines, policies and procedures as established. Principal Responsibilities Participate in training modules, regularly scheduled statewide meetings, and supervisory meetings; Team with early childcare staff to identify and provide interventions for young children, birth to five, who may be at risk of suspension and/or expulsion from a childcare or early education program; Act as a resource regarding early childhood development with emphasis on social, emotional and behavioral health and the importance of relationships between the child and his/her adult caregivers (families, teacher, etc.); Ability to utilize assessment and screening tools to support teachers and children/families at risk, and create individualized action plans; Provide consultation to early childcare providers in a manner that is culturally responsive to the child, family, and provider(s); Assist early childcare staff with appropriate referral information for identified children and families when specialized services are indicated; Act as a liaison between family, early childcare provider, and other support agencies in the community; Represent infant and early childhood mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention practices at the systems level through participating in Systems of Care/Community Collaboratives; Work collaboratively with community agencies; Provide social emotional education through trainings and community presentations; Provide required data and reports; Significant travel to offsite locations within the region; Some evening hours are required to meet the needs of early childhood educators, childcare agencies, and families; Maintains confidentiality of all client protected health information and adheres to all HIPAA related to policies and procedures; Performs other tasks/responsibilities as required to support the business operations; Demonstrates ethical behavior and cultural sensitivity in all activities involving individuals of diverse backgrounds. Extensive knowledge and a demonstrated level of expertise in the field of infant and early childhood mental health; child development (including social, emotional and behavioral health, developmental delays), family systems and mental health including: attachment/separation issues, substance abuse, domestic violence, verbal/physical/sexual abuse/neglect issues, failure to thrive, low birth weight; screening and assessment skills, screening and assessment skills Additional Skills Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development, adult learning, mental health and early care and education Engagement, relationship building, and collaboration with families and caregivers Observation, screening, and data collection skills Action planning, strategy development, implementation/ technical assistance Community systems partnerships and resources Professionalism, ethics, cultural responsiveness, and scope of consultation Role Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; Strong attention to detail; ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines; Excellent PC skills with demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Package (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook); internet; Training and public speaking skills; Strong written and verbal skills required.
