Children’s Advocacy Center of Collier County Job Description Case Coordinator Department:
Child Protection Team Full-Time/Exempt On-Call Reports to: Clinical Supervisor This position provides highly specialized evaluations of suspected child abuse and neglect as part of the Child Protection Team. The case coordinator works as part of a team to help determine if a child has been abused and helps to ensure the ongoing safety of the child.
Major Job Functions:
Provides case intake of information to assess needed services and activities. This may include reviewing any prior reports of suspected child abuse, reviewing current abuse hotline reports, discussing case with the protective investigator or assigned detective. Provides highly skilled forensic interviews of child victims of suspected abuse, siblings of victims, or potential child witlessness of abuse, family violence, or other crimes. Conducts specialized interviews of children or their family members involved in an active investigation of suspected child maltreatment. Develops recommendations for the immediate needs of the child and family, as well as the long-term needs and safety of the child. Coordinates case activities, working closely with the Florida Department of Children & Families, local law enforcement, and the State Attorney’s Office, to facilitate communication between organizations responsible for the investigation of child abuse allegations. Facilitates or attends case review staffings to help develop individualized case plans and identify risk and safety factors. Coordinates the forensic medical evaluation of the child victims. Assist the Team Medical Director during the medical evaluation, and provides comfort and reassurance to the child and family. Additionally, the case coordinator may assist in documenting positive findings of abuse, and assists with evidence collection as it pertains to the child victim of suspected abuse. Provides bio-psychosocial assessments of non-offending family members or care-givers. Provides information and referral to other applicable support services as necessary to support the family during a time of crisis. The case coordinator is responsible for writing specific reports and must be able to manage deadlines and program/contractual requirements.
Expectations:
Must have strong writing and verbal skills. Must be comfortable with data entry and working with data systems Must be able to work with a wide range of individuals. Must have 3 – 5 years’ experience working with children and their families, with at least 1 – year of experience in the field of child abuse and neglect. Must be willing to work some evenings and some weekends. This position is required to be “on-call” to assist with the investigation of reported child abuse. Must be willing to be part of a team and may be responsible for other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, nursing, child development, or other related human services field. Master’s Preferred. Will be required to attend a 40-hour forensic interview training program, and continuing education in the field of child maltreatment and/or family violence will be required annually.
Other Miscellaneous:
Bi-lingual preferred. Some state and local travel may be required. On-call required as needed. Must be self-motivated, dependable, and demonstrate ability to work in a team setting.
