Full Job Description Job Summary :
Assume professional responsibility for providing comprehensive parent education services aimed at preventing child abuse and neglect for an “at risk” population of parents. Parent Specialists will assist the clients in establishing and maintaining a relationship with their child, which provides emotional, mental, and physical safety and security. This includes assisting families in understanding their child’s emotional regulation, impulse control, disruptive behavior, aggression, withdrawn/detachment, and arranging for appropriate resources when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications :
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field from an accredited college or university. A minimum of one year’s experience in direct delivery of services to children and families. At least six (6) months of experience in teaching parent education classes preferred. Licensure, Certification, and/or
Registration:
Must be certified in Circle of Security, Nurturing Parenting, or some other form of evidence based parenting curriculum
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain a caseload of families and a flexible schedule of office and telehealth visits that meet the client’s needs. Perform office or telehealth parenting sessions or in office coached parenting. Work on individualized family goals utilizing Circle of Security parenting or other parenting curriculum education materials. Maintain client files in accordance with program standards, contracts and all funding streams. Complete all documentation within required timeframes; as stated by program standards, contracts, licensing and funding streams. Prepare reports and documentation to remain compliant with contracts (funding streams). Provide professional case consultation to professionals involved in client’s case. Assist clients by providing linkages to necessary resources and advocate on their behalf. Attends trainings, in service sessions, staff meetings and clinical supervision as required. If needed, participates in public awareness projects to increase visibility in the community, occasionally involving public speaking and educational community workshops. Works cooperatively as a team. Complete other duties as assigned.
