Under the Director of Pediatrics, the Pediatric Psychosocial and Bereavement Manager assists in the coordination and supervision of psychosocial and bereavement services, including staffing, clinical direction, and statistical reporting. S/he ensures that quality and maximum practice standards are used in service provision to PedsCare patients and families.
Position Details Job Location:
In-office flex position, located at 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL. Position may require home health/hospital visits around Duval County and surrounding areas.
Compensation :
$75,000 – 81,000 annual, plus paid driving mileage; full benefits package including 23 days annual
PTO Days/Hours:
Monday – Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; occasional weekends and nights as needed for staff support
Primary Responsibilities:
The Manager is also responsible for the day-to-day operations and delivery of bereavement services for Pediatric families, including but not limited to coordination and supervision of bereavement programs in support of patient family members. The Pediatric Manager ensures staff compliance to agency policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations. S/he represents Community Hospice PedsCare in the general community, healthcare networks and collaborates with other agencies/organizations to assure quality end of life care for patients and their families. Responsible for the supervision, performance appraisals, productivity, and compliance of assigned staff. Manages the development and delivery of all pediatric bereavement programs and events to effectively address the grief needs of patient family members. Monitors clinical treatment of PedsCare patients and provides clinical direction to staff through consultation as needed. Monitors guidance on the management of high risk, complex or potential abuse/neglect cases related to Community PedsCare patients/families to appropriate staff. Evaluates, encourages, and supports the development of clinical skills, provides constructive feedback, coaching and counseling to staff. Provides clinical supervision toward licensure for eligible staff as needed. Monitors census/ratio of caseloads and coordinates with Director of Community PedsCare to determine best utilization of personnel resources assigned to teams. Assists with interviews of potential candidates providing input to the Director of Community PedsCare. Creates and supervises the orientation schedule for all new psychosocial staff. Facilitates monthly care team meetings with psychosocial staff. Monitors, tracks, and ensures compliance with Standards and Regulations (e.g.
CAHPs, CMS, CoPS, NASW, Florida Administrative Code) through chart audits, and monitoring of documentation. Assists in the development of competencies and the evaluation of the competency skills of each staff member. Assists in the development and execution of social work standards to include, but not be limited to, ethics, customer service, documentation, care plans, team collaboration, assessments, etc. Participates in the development and revision of psychosocial and pediatric bereavement policies and guidelines. Collaborates with the Professional Development Department regarding training and educational development of staff. Provides training to Community Hospice staff and community partners on an as needed basis. Participates in QI activities as directed, for both psychosocial and pediatric bereavement, and incorporates QI findings into department meetings and interactions with psychosocial staff. Functions as a bereavement counselor for designated IDG. Serves as a backup to the Director of Community PedsCare as needed. Oversees the supervision of student interns accepted by Community PedsCare, and coordinates with their program/university. Oversees orientation of PedsCare volunteers and assists with patient assignments and monitoring of services provided. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) State of Florida ACHP-SW or APHSW-C (obtains Hospice Social Work Credential within first year of employment in role if currently missing)
Education/Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: Master’s Degree Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school Minimum of three (3) years clinical practice/direct service experience with individuals and families in health care, and at least one (1) year experience in therapy and counseling in group and/or individual settings. Designation as a “Qualified Supervisor” for Social Workers by the State of Florida (Obtained within first year of employment in role.) Desired Knowledge & Skills Principles, practices, and methods of social work services intervention, including assessment, reporting, recording, and referring/networking Crisis management skills, support skills and family dynamics; grief and loss issues as well as community resources Planning, coordinating, and participating in the delivery of varied and complex social work services; writing legibly and professionally, good listening, Interviewing and phone skills; working with multi disciplinary team Working independently, supervising, training, and evaluating employees; ability to work competently with high levels of stress.
