Shelter Manager 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Bunnell, FL 32110 Job Summary The Shelter Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of the shelter, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for residents. This position involves managing staff, coordinating services, and implementing programs that support the well-being of individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability due to domestic violence. The Shelter Manager will also engage with community partners to enhance service delivery and advocate for the needs of residents. Duties Provides service/case management for all shelter residents. Assists participants with establishing their housing goals. Provides follow-up as needed to ensure maximum outcome is met. Educates participants, both adults and children about Domestic / Sexual Violence and facilitates crisis counseling both individually and in-group settings. Responsible for service/case files and daily notes. Provides referrals for the residents, including but not limited to medical, educational, transportation, and other needs a shelter participant may require for safety and autonomy. Provides individual crisis intervention services and group house meetings weekly or as needed or directed. Responds to crisis calls from the hotline and proceeds with proper in-take procedure as may be appropriate. Log information accordingly for statistical purposes. Admits new participants into the Emergency Shelter and completes all intake documents within the required timeline. Assists with the filing of Victims’ Compensation, Injunctions For Protection, and other applications. Attends court hearings as needed. Supervise and maintain a team of staff to deliver consistent and high-quality emergency shelter services. Maintains records and communications among other staff members regarding relevant events that occur in the emergency shelter during shift. Conducts daily general inspections of the entire shelter (including bedrooms and out-side) to ensure that safety and cleanliness of residence is maintained and appliances and equipment are functioning properly. Reports all repair needs to the DV Services Coordinator. Ensures all safety procedures are in place and are being utilized (e.g. doors and windows closed and locked, parking area free from hazards, alarm system engaged at appropriate times, etc.). Keeps abreast of the number of residents on premises at any given time. Maintains daily and monthly statistical information about program participants. Shall make entries in service/case files timely. Ensures client household needs are met and supplies are available Assemble and maintain an adequate supply of in-take folders, packets and crisis call and referral forms. Keeps resource books updated. Maintains adequate supplies in program participant’s rooms, storage and office through use of inventory. Properly logs and disburses donations to appropriate locations. Makes arrangements to clear unusable items from the Center. Helps to maintain cleaning and maintenance of the facility and property. Responsible for participating in and completing all required trainings and conferences throughout the year, including but not limited to annual domestic and sexual violence training requirements. Ensure all mandatory training requirements are completed per agency policy and funder requirements.. Attends and participates in all mandatory case review meetings, staff meetings and additional training as required. All other duties that may be assigned, as related to direct victim services. Experience Position requires an energetic, independent, self-motivated individual with the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines. Individual must be an articulate speaker with a good vocabulary. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, listening skills and conflict resolution skills. Individual must have the ability to perform calmly in crisis situations. Individual must understand and promote non-violent issues and be sensitive to the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault in our society. Individual must be or become skilled in group dynamics as well as in providing individual peer-to-peer crisis intervention counseling. Advocates for the mission of the organization and upholds the agency’s values. Individual must be organized and detail oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, and able to work without direct supervision. Individual must have or gain knowledge in the area of domestic violence laws, sexual violence laws, child abuse laws, Florida Statutes covering injunctions for protections, court procedures, victim rights, victim compensation requirements, address confidentiality and relocation assistance. Individual must work and communicate in a time efficient, professional manner with survivors, co-workers, community partners and the general public. Individual must have or gain knowledge of the effects of domestic violence on children. Individual must have experience with computers including knowledge of Word and Excel. Individual must have or gain knowledge of community resources. Individual must have good listening skills and interact with victims in a caring and professional manner. Individual must have or gain knowledge of agency forms and agency approved statistical databases. Individual must have or gain knowledge of Telelanguage Line translator services and TTY hearing impaired phone system. Individual must be goal oriented with the ability to attain development objectives. Individual must have the skill and ability to: Interact and communicate effectively with children and adults from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; react with flexibility and sensitivity to changing situations and needs; effectively carry out written and oral instructions; maintain cooperative work relationships.
