Summary:
Community United Methodist Church is seeking a full-time staff member to oversee our Family Ministry. This individual will be responsible for the planning, organizing, and leading of all children, youth, and family programs and events.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Administration:
Attend all meetings, programs, and events relating to staff or Family Ministry including Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Oversee the selection and implementation of curriculum for students of all ages, infants – 12th grade. Develop and supervise the budget monies for the Family Ministry, including scholarships. Manage general administrative tasks including ordering and managing supplies. Provide a Sunday School and Nursery opportunity during 9:30 Contemporary Worship. Actively strive to grow and learn in Family Ministry by attending conferences and trainings, connected with other Ministers, reading related materials, etc… Provide care and encouragement to children, youth, parents, and volunteers.
Community Engagement:
Actively participate in community and school events to help engage with families in Fruitland Park and the surrounding area. Plan and implement annual retreats and camps at the Warren Willis Camp and Conference Center.
Event Planning and Coordination:
Oversee and implement all programming for Family Ministry. Coordinate family events, programs, activities, and camps for the Family Ministry. Examples include but are not limited to, Trunk or Treat, Pumpkin Patch, Easter Egg Hunt, Youth Mission Trips, etc…) Assist in leading Confirmation classes as needed.
Volunteer Development:
Recruit, train, and observe all volunteers in the Family Ministry. Develop and implement all safety and security processes for the Family Ministry, including the Child and Youth Protection Policy training.
Communication and Outreach:
Manage communication plans to keep staff, volunteers, and families informed. Create promotional materials, advertisements for events, and flyers or other media for Family Ministry promotion. Responsibly monitor and manage social media for the Family Ministry.
Qualifications:
A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. A love for children, youth, and families and a desire to come alongside and equip parents and guardians to fulfill their role as the primary spiritual caregivers. Experience working with children, students, and their families in a ministry setting. A genuine interest in responding to the hopes and concerns of all families so that all family units are affirmed. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Good interpersonal skills a Ability to work independently while collaborating with a broader team. Dexterity with social media and technology A high school degree (or equivalent) is required. A Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred or equivalent experience (2+ years in children’s or student ministry). Technical Skills (Preferred): Planning Center (scheduling and volunteer management) Microsoft Word and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) Zoom (video conferencing and webinars) Canva (flyers, slides, and other media creation)
Spiritual & Physical Requirements:
Regular involvement in church activities and events. Adherence to Community’s Visioning Mission Statement. Commitment to Community UMC and staff expectations. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$50,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
Schedule:
8 hour shift Monday to Friday No nights Weekends as needed
