Job Summary:

The After School Assistant supports the Manager of the program in daily activities, ensuring a safe and educational environment for children after school. This role requires organizational skills, the ability to effectively interact with children and their families, as well as handle diverse situations calmly and professionally.

Responsibilities:

School Pick Up Organization:

○ Plan and coordinate the daily routine for picking up children from designated schools. ○ Ensure punctuality and safety during the pickup process.

Staff Assignment and Supervision:

○ Organize and assign tasks to assistant staff to ensure adequate support for children. ○ Supervise staff activities during service hours. Support with

Schoolwork:

○ Assist children with their schoolwork as needed. ○ Review and ensure all assignments are completed and understand each child’s individual needs.

Care and Accompaniment:

○ Accompany children in daily activities such as bathroom visits. ○ Organize and participate in games and recreational activities as per the established schedule.

General Administration:

○ Collaborate in the daily organization of the after school program. ○ Maintain accurate records of attendance and children’s activities.

Requirements:

• Excellent ability to interact with children and maintain a positive environment.
• Patience and ability to follow and give instructions clearly and effectively.
• Organization and ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
• Availability to work from 1pm to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle handling skills if necessary.

Desired Competencies:

• Previous experience in childcare, education, or related fields.
• Certifications in first aid and CPR are a plus.
• Ability to work in a team and adapt to changes in the work environment.
