Overtown Youth Center (OYC) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elementary Intervention Coordinator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for youth development, special education, and inclusive education practices. As the Elementary Intervention Coordinator, you will work closely with OYC’s program staff and school administrators to support students with unique abilities or behavioral challenges. You will provide coaching, resources, and hands-on interventions to ensure that all students receive the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. What You Would Do:
Conduct regular in-school rotations and visits at elementary program sites to observe classrooms and provide hands-on coaching to Program Coordinators and staff. Work closely with teachers, school administrators, counselors, and inclusion specialists to ensure that classrooms are inclusive and support the diverse needs of all students. Train staff on best practices for managing challenging behaviors and implementing effective intervention strategies for children with unique abilities or behavioral challenges. Assist staff in creating individualized intervention plans for students who need additional support, ensuring that their needs are met in a way that promotes success. Create and maintain a library of resources, including tools and materials for intervention and behavior management, to assist staff in supporting students effectively. Document observations and interventions in client records, tracking the progress of students and ensuring that all necessary paperwork is completed on time. Provide emergency response capabilities, supporting staff and families in crisis situations and ensuring that incidents are reported appropriately. Act as a liaison between OYC and school systems, ensuring smooth coordination of services and support for students and families. Facilitate or participate in family meetings to address concerns and develop strategies for supporting students at home and at school. Participate in staff development workshops and training opportunities, supporting both your professional growth and the growth of your team.
Requirements:
Who We’re Looking For:
4-6 years of experience in youth programs, focusing on intervention strategies and supporting students with unique abilities. Associate’s Degree in social services, education, or related field required; Bachelor’s preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong communication and collaboration skills. Experienced in managing classroom behaviors and fostering inclusive environments. Flexible, with the ability to adapt and provide constructive feedback. Skilled in crisis response and accurate documentation. Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with students, staff, and families. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass drug screening and Level 2 background check.
