Job Purpose:

Under supervision of the Principal, the Social Worker will provide direct, child-centered social work services, support systems and processes, and cultivate effective relationships with all constituents.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in social work or mental health counselor from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification or eligible for certification by the Florida State Department of Education.
  • Qualified supervisor credential preferred.
  • Understanding of Montessori education preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Consult with teachers on behavior, relationships, and mental health support.
  • In collaboration with staff, create, assess, and implement interventions that will support the child in their environment.
  • Collaborate with administration on child concerns and mental health needs.
  • Attend and collaborate with staff on all level team meetings, behavior intervention plans, IEP/504 meetings, threat assessments, and Mental Health team meetings.
  • Oversee MTSS for Mental Health process.
  • Adheres to operating budget to keep in compliance with IMO finance department and state regulations.
  • Manages all aspects of the internship program.
Direct Social Work Services:
  • Provide one-on-one meetings with children.
  • Participate in restorative justice circles.
  • Consult with parents regarding their child’s needs.
  • Facilitate COSA meetings.
  • Screen children for suicidality and provide follow-up recommendations to parents per state standards.
Training and Education:
  • Provide mental health awareness training to faculty and staff to include Tier 1 school-wide social and emotional programs, abuse prevention, suicide awareness, and Peace Education.
  • Train faculty and staff in addressing mental health concerns.
Parent Education, Meetings and Conferences:
  • Collaborate with parents regarding their child’s needs.
  • Facilitate or attend meetings as necessary.
  • Serve as a member of the Attendance Child Study Team as part of the Truancy process.
Record-Keeping and Data Assessment:
  • Maintain records and forms related to mental health support and programs.
  • Analyze SEL survey data with Principal.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Physical Requirements/Activity:
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
  • The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, lift (up to 20 pounds), finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing acuity, and visual acuity.
Indoor and Outdoor:

Social Worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
