Part-time, Hourly Hourly Rate:
$20•$24/hour
Hours:
Monday•Friday, between 1:30 PM•5:30 PM (18-20 hours per week)
What You’ll Do:
Key Responsibilities As our Aftercare Director, you’ll be at the heart of our program, ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for our students every afternoon. Leading the
Aftercare Experience:
Student Transitions & Attendance:
Cheerfully greet and sign in students as they exit school, perform headcounts, and safely escort them to Tree Top Academy. Verify all students are present and promptly account for any missing children.
Supervision & Support:
Maintain required student-to-staff ratios. Provide a present, authoritative, yet warm, loving, and understanding presence, balancing clear boundaries with genuine care.
Emotional Nurturing:
Offer a calm, safe space for students needing to cool off. Listen empathetically, help them identify emotions, and guide them to healthy coping strategies.
Outdoor Activities:
Oversee playground activities and student interactions, ensuring safety and appropriateness. Mediate disagreements promptly to prevent escalation.
Health & Safety:
Promote regular water breaks on warm days and monitor student hydration. Inspect playground equipment daily, reporting any hazards immediately.
Seamless Sign-Outs:
Keep attendance records (clipboard and iPad) updated as children are signed out. Ensure parents or authorized pick-up persons provide signatures/initials upon departure.
Engaging Activities:
Bring creativity to life by offering diverse structured options (sports, art, games) that encourage students to explore interests and try new things.
Homework Support:
Provide a quiet, supportive space for students to complete assignments, ensuring they understand and confidently finish their tasks.
Building Connections & Community:
Parent Partnerships:
Be the friendly face of the program, promptly informing parents/guardians of notable behaviors, achievements, or concerns.
Program Liaison:
Serve as a key link between school administrators, staff, parents, and students regarding the Aftercare program.
Administrative Support:
Direct families to the front office for registration/program changes.
Trust & Confidentiality:
Uphold the utmost confidentiality regarding all school and student matters.
Ensuring Safety & Compliance:
Policy Enforcement:
Implement and enforce program policies and procedures, including those related to medical situations, disciplinary actions, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
Reporting:
Promptly report any accidents, incidents, or problems involving participants, staff, or the school to the appropriate channels (e.g., Head of School, Executive Director).
Emergency Preparedness:
Maintain easily accessible copies of emergency information, including food allergies and other health details, for all enrolled students.
Secure Pick-Up:
Ensure safe and accurate check-in/out procedures for students with authorized pick-up members, providing peace of mind for parents.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of previous experience in an aftercare, childcare, or similar educational setting. Proven experience working with children aged Kindergarten through 5th grade. A reliable, passionate, and consistent individual with a genuine love for working with children. Strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to manage large groups of children effectively and safely. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
