MISSION:

RCMA Mulberry Community Academy, a Title I Charter School in Polk County, is seeking an Afterschool Coordinator. RCMA Mulberry Community Academy is dedicated to opening doors of opportunity for the children of Florida’s farmworkers and agricultural migrants. Most students in our small, community-oriented classes are English Language Learners of Central American heritage with big dreams of making their mark. In order to best serve our student population, the school is a dual language program school (50:50, English/Spanish), with a one-way immersion model. Our expanding K-2 Charter School is located in Mulberry, Florida. Our school will serve approximately 120 children, our small size allows us to serve our students and their families on a personal level. Redlands Christian Migrant Association, RCMA, is a non-profit corporation serving Florida agriculture workers and their children for more than fifty years. RCMA is recognized as a “Schools of Hope operator” by the State Board of Education, a prestigious designation for non-profit, charter school operators.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

: Responsible for the planning, implementation, and supervision of our summer and afterschool programs, providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children and youth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following; however, other duties may be assigned: Provides leadership for the academy afterschool and summer program. Works with the teacher aides and other afterschool and summer staff to ensure delivery of a high-quality, mission-aligned program. Works closely with the principal to recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff. Ensures all necessary documentation is up-to-date and complete. Coordinates program schedules, including activity rotations, snack times, homework help, and free play, to maximize student engagement and participation and ensure student safety. Coordinates appropriate coverage during the school day and after school for teacher aides. Provides guidance, mentorship, and behavior management support to students, fostering a positive and inclusive program environment conducive to learning and growth. Maintains open and regular communication with families regarding program updates, events, and student progress, addressing any concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner. Ensures that students’ school readiness eligibility documentation is up-to-date and properly maintained in accordance with program requirements. Work closely with families to support the completion of necessary forms and requirements. Manages program budgets, including purchasing supplies and materials, tracking expenses, and maximizing resources to deliver cost-effective programming. Collaborates with community partners, schools, and organizations to leverage resources, expand program offerings, and promote program visibility and accessibility within the community. Ensures DCF licensing standards are met, facilities are maintained, and Human Resources and Fiscal administration is accomplished accurately and timely. Maintains safety standards and completes necessary reports in accordance with RCMA policy, and state and federal regulations. Supports the school-day program as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED. Must have a minimum of 60 College credit hours or have passed the Parapro test as required by Chapter 231.02 Florida Statutes. Must have a minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in an educational environment. Must have up to one year of experience with training and or supervising non-degreed professionals. Transcript documentation of passing All Competency Exams for the DCF Child Care Training within 1st year of employment.

OTHER :

Able to work flexible hours, occasional evenings, and varying daytime shifts during weekdays. Some weekend work is required. Must be age 21. Have or be able to obtain a Florida driver’s license. A driving record acceptable to RCMA’s insurance carrier is required. Ability to work with degreed and non-degreed professional staff and families.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with economically disadvantaged families in a community setting. Bilingual English/Spanish.
