Child/ Youth Advocate Tranquility House Domestic Violence Center Cartersville, GA 30120
Role Overview:
The Child and Youth Advocate is responsible for supporting children and youth residing in the shelter and served through outreach. This position ensures young clients’ emotional, educational, and developmental needs are met through direct services, evidence-based programming, and strong community collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Implementation Design and implement age-appropriate and trauma-informed programs for children and youth. Facilitate evidence-based support groups and measure outcomes. Develop innovative programs based on client needs and community trends. Organize field trips, holiday events, and birthday celebrations. Family and Community Engagement Provide parents with referrals, educational resources, and developmentally appropriate parenting support. Collaborate with local schools, service providers, and community partners. Conduct community presentations and promote outreach programs. Education and Advocacy Educate youth on healthy relationships, emotional awareness, and personal safety. Use evidence-based materials to address the effects of witnessing domestic violence (e.g., Hands Are Not for Hitting , Some Days He Growled ). Advocate for children’s needs in educational and social service settings.
