QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Georgia certificate in School Social Work(P-12) or such alternatives to these qualifications as the Governance Team may find appropriate and acceptable.
DUTIES:
Attendance
- Monitor underage attendance and attend Truancy Court if necessary. Help all students overcome barriers so that they may attend school regularly and be successful. Develop and assign duties to an Attendance Support Team. Monitor progress of team in a timely manner.
Food Program - Coordinate nutrition program.
Counseling - Based on referrals, counsel with students and parents helping families cope with economic struggles such as financial needs, hours in applying for Medicare/Medicaid, childcare, etc.
Provide crisis counseling services as requested by counselor, site director or any other Coastal Plains staff for families needing medical treatment, mental health services, legal services and any other community services. Participate in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process as required.
Home Visits
- Conduct home visits as needed through referral of Coastal Plains staff when students or parents cannot come to the school. Work closely with counselor, graduation coach, site administrators, career specialist, or other Coastal Plains staff to develop and support ongoing dropout recovery programs. Work with Coastal Plains liaison on concern with homeless students.
Community Agencies - Make referrals to public or private agencies with appropriate followup. Serve as a liasion between school, family, and community resources.
Records/Training - Maintain appropriate school records and provide written reports and communication to educational stakeholders.
Serve as a resource person for in-service trainings and planning.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Director.
