Job Description
Sexual Assault Advocate Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence Decatur, GA 30034 The Sexual Assault Advocate will provide crisis intervention, advocacy, safety planning, and supportive services to survivors of sexual assault. This role is centered on empowering survivors, providing a compassionate response, and connecting individuals with resources to support healing. The Advocate will work closely with community partners, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and other WRC staff to ensure a coordinated and survivor-centered response to sexual violence. Key Responsibilities Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and safety planning to survivors of sexual assault via phone, in-person, and online communication. Accompany survivors to forensic exams, police interviews, and court proceedings as needed. Advocate for survivors with medical, legal, and social service systems to ensure access to needed resources. Offer short-term case management and referral services to survivors. Facilitate support groups or educational sessions for survivors and community members. Maintain accurate, confidential records and documentation of services provided. Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 crisis response support. Collaborate with internal staff and community agencies to ensure a coordinated response to sexual violence. Support the development and delivery of community outreach and prevention programming. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public health, or a related field; or equivalent experience. Minimum of one year experience working with survivors of sexual assault. Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and survivor-centered advocacy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and empathetic in crisis situations. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Must have access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed for on-call coverage. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $55,000- $70,000 depending on experience.
