Certified Peer Specialist-Parent Skyland Trail – 3.8 Atlanta, GA Job Details Part-time $25 an hour 12 hours ago Qualifications Mid-level High school diploma or GED Continuous improvement Communication skills Full Job Description Part-Time Certified Peer Specialist- Parent Skyland Trail, a nonprofit mental health residential and day treatment program for adults and adolescents in Atlanta, is seeking a part-time Certified Peer-Specialist- Parent.
Scope:
Skyland Trail is dedicated to providing exceptional mental health treatment that supports both individuals and their families in the path to recovery. The Certified Peer Specialist-Parent (CPS-P) role is specifically designed to support the families of those receiving care at Skyland Trail by utilizing the lived experience of a parent who has navigated the challenges of raising a child with mental health needs. A CPS-P can offer valuable insight, educational programs, emotional support, and guidance to families, helping them feel more empowered and connected as they support their family members through recovery.
Competencies:

Strong skills in developing and providing engaging educational programs at a level appropriate for families Supports families in crisis, promotes self-direction, and helps build natural support systems. Uses personal experiences to inspire and support others. Effectively finds and connects families to appropriate services and community resources. Identifies strengths in others, meets people where they are, and offers support without judgment. Demonstrates self-awareness, manages personal bias, and values diverse family experiences. Promotes caregiver education, shares knowledge, and actively participates in professional growth.
CPS-P Responsibilities:
Offer comprehensive support and education to family members, helping them navigate their role and foster a deeper understanding of mental health care. Assist Education Director with Family Orientation, STEP, and Weekly Welcome Sessions. Facilitate support groups, expanding the current STEP support group and offering targeted groups for parents, siblings, children, alumni vs. new families, etc. Lead education groups, e.g, WRAP for Families. Serve as a family ombudsman, addressing family concerns, providing resources, and facilitating communication between families and the treatment team. Empower families by providing information about the nature, purpose, and benefits of services available at Skyland Trail. Expand community partnerships, e.g. hosting NEABPD or NAMI family education programs. Conduct surveys and focus groups with families throughout the year to gather feedback and support continuous improvement of services.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Attend team and organizational meetings, activities, and events as required. Ability to seek guidance as appropriate. Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
CPS-P certification
Required Experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to systematically track multiple needs/issues simultaneously Ability to work both independently and in a team while managing time effectively Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills Salary & Benefits $25/hour; 15 hours per week
