General Description of Job:

Alpharetta Methodist is hiring a part-time (12 hours/week) Preschool Ministry Coordinator to join our Kids’ Ministry Staff primarily on Sunday mornings.

Responsibilities include:

Planning and leading a PreK Worship time at 9:00 & 11:00am, and planning the Sunday School lesson for 10:00am. Other responsibilities include assisting the Kid’s Ministry Staff with family events such as: VBS, Easter Egg Hunt, and other seasonal events. Sunday morning work hours are required, 8:15am-12:15pm, and additional work hours during the week may be one set day or two half-days (Monday-Thursday.)

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

Plan PreK Worship Hour activities, music, lesson, crafts, games for 9:00 & 11:00am (duplicated). Plan PreK Sunday School Hour Lesson at 10:00am. Recruit volunteers before the beginning of each new school year and ensure volunteer coverage at all 3 hours on Sunday Mornings, find subs as needed. Lead the PreK Worship Hour with volunteers assisting and train other volunteers to take the lead when appropriate. Help with planning PreK VBS each summer, and be present Monday-Thursday of VBS Week (extra paid hours).

Availability:

Available to work every Sunday, 8:15am-12:15pm Set 8 remaining office hours sometime between Monday-Thursday. May work one full day or two half days.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience:

Experience working in an educational environment with young children. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to create and implement lesson plans and worship experiences for preschoolers. Working understanding of child development and cognitive development. Hands-on experience in accommodating various learning styles. Strong understanding of the Biblical narrative and ways to communicate it to young children. Skills to train and equip adult volunteers.
