JOB FUNCTIONS

The Instructor assists the Director and Coordinator with implementing and maintaining the Ageless Summer Kamp (ASK) and other Intergenerational Programs. Manager This position will assist with the creative and innovative aging programs, while creating and maintaining relationship with external stockholders. The incumbent in this position works with staff and volunteers stationed at the intergenerational center. This position works closely with the Director and Coordinator of Intergenerational Programs and all senior volunteers and youth to ensure its programs progress and functionality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To reflect in all aspects of job performance the mission of the East Baton Rouge Council on the aging, Inc. ?serving the elderly in East Baton Rouge Parish, to enrich and enhance their quality of life through advocacy efforts, creative planning, and coordination and provision of needed services, and to make it possible for them to live independent lives as long as possible.? Aids Director and Coordinator with daily summer camp tasks Supports Coordinator with lesson planning and implementation Assists with parent notifications Assists with reporting and documentation Coordinates daily parent sign-in and field trip documentation Chaperones during field trip Performs all other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work includes sitting, standing with movement, walking, bending/stooping, crawling, climbing, reaching above shoulder, reaching below shoulder, reaching at shoulder, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing and pulling; repetitive hand and foot motion; hearing and vision abilities in accordance with the physical task analysis. Lifting at least 40 lbs. at a time. Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and use data or figures, operate a computer terminal and other office machines and equipment, and perform extensive reading.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software, email applications and contact with seniors, families and the public Demonstrate success in following through and completing routine tasks Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong verbal and written communication skills, in written and oral form, with public officials, community organization, and the general public Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to prioritize and multi-task Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions Ability to think creatively, takes initiative and ownership of projects, and work as part of a team Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities Thorough knowledge of gerontology and the philosophy, delivery methods and service organizations of aging programs Thorough knowledge of social, economic, recreational, physical, and mental health needs of older adultscitizens and youth Ability to maintain effective working relations with staff, public officials, and other persons assisting with the older populationcitizens and youth Promote programs and recruit participants /build relationships and connections with participants.
